A virtual Private Server or virtual private network is
established over internet. It is named as Virtual because it exists with an
Virtual entity with in a public network and it is termed as private because it
is confined to a group of private users.
Taking from users view it will appear as a network which
consists of dedicated network links. These dedicated network links will appear
as they are reserved for the VPN clientele. The reason behind is because of
encryption the network will appears to be private.

Now we will move on to the Basic requirements Virtual
Private Network. They are:
The User Authentication:
The Virtual Private Network must be able to verify and check user
authentication and allow only authorized users to access the network.
Encryption of Data: Encrypt
and decrypt the data to ensure and kept private for others on the not have
access to the data.
Key Management: Keys must be generated and they must be refreshed for encryption both at the server and the client. (Note: Keys are required for encryption.)
Multi-protocol Support: The Virtual Private Network technology must support commons protocols on the Internet like IPX, IP ….
Address Management: This is to assign addresses to clients and been sure that private addresses are kept private on the Virtual Private Network.
